Item Description
BrainBoard V4.0 [ International Character Edition ] - User Instructions
BrainBoard is a brainstorming tool that will listen for user-generated words and display them on its brainstorming board in random locations. Whilst BrainBoard will attempt not to overlap words, sometimes this will happen. In this case, you can simply click the word to delete it [ and then create it again ], or edit it to move it to a new location.
GETTING STARTED
Rez BrainBoard. The main display screen has three icons at the bottom on the right - you use these to control BrainBoard...
The tick icon
This is the main control icon. Click it to display a menu with two options:
- Brainstorm
- Permissions
The first thing to do is to set the permissions. These can either be set to 'Owner' [ that means you ], 'Group' [ that means people in the same group as BrainBoard ] or 'Public' [ that means everyone ]. Permissions not only control who can brainstorm words and concepts to the board, but also who can delete them, so it's worth getting this right before continuing.
Once permissions have been set, click the tick icon and choose 'Brainstorm' to start brainstorming. BrainBoard will generate a random channel between 1 and 100 to listen on. When it's ready, it will tell you how to post words and concepts to the board. A typical example looks like this:
BrainBoard V4.0 whispers: Permissions set to owner only
BrainBoard V4.0 whispers: Chat words on channel 56, one at a time, e.g.
BrainBoard V4.0 whispers: /56 creativity
In this example you simply need to chat words on channel 56 to have them posted to the board. Note that this channel changes each time BrainBoard is used.
Once words are on the board, you will be able to edit their location by editing the prim and moving it. Note that these words are created with transparent prims - if you have trouble selecting one, try CTRL-ALT-T to turn transparency highlighting on to make selection easier. You can also [ depending on permissions ] click on a word to delete it. If you accidentally forget to delete lists before picking up ListBoard, rez a copy of the included ListBoard Cleaner tool and click it to clear all generated lists in the vicinity.
The cross icon
This is the delete icon. If the user clicking on it has the correct permissions [ see above ] all rezzed words and concepts will be deleted
The lightbulb icon
This is the help icon - it delivers this help notecard.
