From 2008-06-09 the Folder Backup is available!!! Now you can backup all your whole inventory in one click (according with permissions)
All started when we lost some of ours important scripts. We spent a lot of time on them, and when they disappeared, it caused a great loss to our investments. So we decided to engage our best developers to create a software that duplicate on the hard disk esactly the same content of the remote inventory. Second Inventory was born. It downloads all the item's details from your sl inventory and replicate them locally. This includes all the characteristics of the asset, from textures to the prims special properties, from the internal parameters of the wearables (clothes, skin, shapes) to the full content of the objects (scripts, notecards, etc). Take a look at the screenshots for further information. This isn't a thief tool! Second Inventory was intended to be a builder's 'must have'. Second Inventory has a copyright protection system that allowes you to duplicate the item only if you have the Mod/Copy/Transfer permissions, or if you are the original creator of the content. This is usefull also if you made an item and lost the full perms example, you can recreate it from a no perms copy. F.A.Q F.a.q. from the official website Scenarios - Local/Team/Offline Work
Have a permanent reproduction of all your creations on your hd and share them with your team, editing them offline. - Re-create lost items
You lost an important and complexed object (jewell for example) you can recreate all the primset even if you have a No mod/No Copy/No Trasfer example of that item (you need to be the creator). - Copies your inventory from one Grid to another
With S.I. you can work on any grid and easily export the items created to any other compatible grid. For example, you can work on the Beta grid and, once done, save the object created on your hd to restore it later on the Main grid.
Requirements Second Inventory requires Window Xp/Vista with the MS framework .NET 2.0 installed. Mac users Second Inventory works fine on Mac trough Bootcamp. Licensing Second Inventory license is inteded per computer, with this version you can use unlimited avatars. If you need to use only one avatar you can buy the Single Avatar Version We offer some volume discount for Corporate and Teams. Updates
Ver. 1.2.0.4 (2008-07-25) The most important improvement of this version, is the new Upload engine, it was wholly re-written in order to fit any possible grid/server version. Now you can choose the Upload protocol in the same way of the Login one. Open the Preferences window and go in the Network menu, you'll see two option UDP and CAP. Minor updates: Improved the Advanced Restore; Scripts now are fully working, also from/to the Inventory (Save/Save as/Restore/Update); A Debug console, useful if you wanna find bugs or run diagnostic; Improved the stability on Opensim, focusing on increasing the reliability; Fixed some few crashes. The 1.2.0.3 (2008-07-16) At least 3 wonderful improvements and some minors: - Now Scripts can be uploaded with success on any Opensim grid.
- Supported the Xml-RPC login in order to login in any possible grids, especially Litesim.
- Upload cache (sorta) that keep in memory the textures already uploaded during the transfer in another grid. This would avoid to flood the simulator with tons of uploads for the same textures.
- Minors: Default folder can append the grid code, improved Advanced Restore, Auto-logoff and Auto-close at the end of the folder backup, basic Crash report.
The 1.2.0.2 released. (2008-07-02) - Developed an Asset Cache. Now SI cache the assets to increase the backup speed.
- Manual Selection/Exclusion of items via check boxes from the Folder Backup.
- Removed any blocking cause during the folder backup, popups/alerts/prompts during the process in order to make it entirely batch.
- Fixed some textures issue. SI wasn't able to download some small textures because of some discard level/size problem, more on the SL Jira: VWR2404 and VWR1815
- Fixed some login issue and improved the Proxy feature
- Opensim backups are now working as well as in SL. We solved the opensim problem on textures (wrong packet count/size/discard level calculation)
The 1.2.0.0 (the expected Batch Backup) was finally released. (2008-06-09) We spent almost a month for this update, but it was a good time, now SI is really featured and finally it can backup all the inventory (according with permissions) with just ONE click. Incremental, Full and Overwrite Backup now are available. But not only the folder backup, also many new feature and tons of bugfixes thank to the active SI's community that reported them on the official forum. The changes are too much to be reported here so visit the official forum to get the full change log. Here some screenshots of the improvements: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) The 1.0.1.0 released. (2008-04-26) Main changes: - User defined Grids
- Animations Backup/Restore/Port

The 1.0.0.9 was just released. (2008-04-11) We are proud to release the v1.0.0.9. Not only primitives but also skin, shape, textures, clothes and etc. It has also A new internal Filesystem, more secure, more flexible and ready for future purposes. Next version, finally will include also the whole folder backup, currently in beta test. The 1.0.0.8 Opensim is now fully supported. (2008-04-04) Great improvements:- A new Advanced Restore feature, it will allow you to re-upload the textures when you restore an object, this is useful if the server loses them or especially porting stuff from one grid o another (because the new one doesn't have them).
- The Restore now works also for textures, skins, clothes and shapes, this means that you can re-create them with one click.
- Opensim for all! After the beta tester now all of you can login in the popular opensim grids.
1.0.0.7 is out (2008-03-30) - Some bugs fixed on the Restore engine, now prims should be linked better.
- Inserted new features available only at those who joined the Beta Test Program: The most popular Opensim grids. Soon available for all.
- 64 bit Platform compatibility improved, thank at Sally LaSalle for testing our beta release.

The license is per computer and no more per avatar. 1.0.0.5 Released Two big enhancements: - Backup/Restore Engine v1.0.0.5 New Backup/Restore engine, full Havok4 compatible. Don't worry, you can use also your previous backups, even if made in Havok4 sims;
- New Communication Window. now you can chat and IM inside Second Inventory. No more IMs lost.
1.0.0.4 Released (2008-03-03) Two great improvements - Restore Engine v1.0.0.4 with script uploader. It'll allow to restore also the scripts contained by the objects

- Small bugfix on the Prim Explorer Window, the twist value is now correct.
1.0.0.2 Released (2008-02-18) A new useful feature that shows the hidden prim properties: Now you can also re-build the original scripts for those properties. 1.0.0.1 Released (2008-02-13) Some bugfixes on Wearable that crashed S.I. A new great feature that shows the appearance parameters as the sl client
